Account Deletion Policy

Overview

You may request deletion of your Zerotonin account at any time through the app. Once submitted, your account enters a 30-day grace period before permanent, irreversible anonymisation. You may cancel at any time during this period.

Day 0
Deletion request submitted — account marked, all activity restricted.
Days 1 – 29
Grace period active — you may log in only to cancel the request.
Pre-deletion
Notification sent (email or in-app) reminding you deletion is imminent.
Day 30+
Irreversible automated anonymisation — account cannot be recovered.

How to Delete Your Account

To initiate account deletion from within the app:

  1. Open the Zerotonin app
  2. Navigate to Settings → Account Actions → Delete Account
  3. Enter the reason for deletion and confirm by clicking "Confirm"

Your deletion request is recorded immediately upon submission.


What Happens After You Request Deletion

During the 30-Day Grace Period

Your account is marked for deletion but remains accessible. You may log in only to cancel. All of the following are restricted during this period:

  • Viewing jobs
  • Applying for jobs
  • Updating your profile
  • Being contacted by healthcare organisations
  • Visibility to recruiters or hospitals

After 30 Days

If the deletion request is not cancelled within the grace period, your account undergoes irreversible anonymisation. This process is automated and cannot be undone.

What Happens to Your Data

The table below outlines how each category of your data is treated following account deletion.

CV and uploaded documents
Certificates and attachments
Push notification tokens
Active login sessions
ANONYMISED Name → replaced with "Deleted User"
Email → anonymised, non-functional format
Phone number → removed or masked
Password → randomised (login disabled)
Profile details → cleared
Verification status → reset
RETAINED Job application records — for healthcare compliance (identity removed)
Audit logs — legal/compliance purposes, no recoverable personal data
Financial or transaction records — as required by applicable law
Once anonymised, data cannot be linked back to you in any form.

Cancelling Your Deletion Request

You may cancel your deletion request at any time within the 30-day grace period by logging in to your account. Your account will be fully restored. After anonymisation has occurred, recovery is not possible.


Administrative Holds

In limited circumstances, Zerotonin may temporarily pause a deletion request, including:

  • Legal or regulatory obligations
  • Ongoing investigations (fraud or misuse)
  • Outstanding contractual or financial matters

During this period, the deletion timeline is paused and resumes automatically once the hold is lifted.


If You Cannot Access Your Account

If you are unable to access your account, you may request deletion by contacting us directly. You may be required to verify your identity before the request is processed.

  • Request deletion of your personal data
  • Request access to your data
  • Request correction of inaccurate data

Re-Registration After Deletion

You may create a new account after deletion. However:

  • Your previous data cannot be restored
  • Your new account is treated independently
  • Historical records remain anonymised

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be communicated via:

  • In-app notifications
  • Email communication
  • Updated effective date on this document
